All five Recycling Centres in West Lothian – Oakbank (Livingston), Whitburn, Linlithgow, Broxburn and Blackburn re-opened today at 10am.
Queues were expected, particularly at Oakbank and Blackburn. There were even reports of people starting to queue in their cars from 7am. In fact, Oakbank had queues of 1h10 minutes by 11:30am, and Blackburn was reporting queues of a quarter mile.
By mid afternoon, wait times had been reduced to 30 minutes at Oakbank, but police were monitoring traffic at Whitburn Reycling Centre.
It is expected that traffic control measures will need to be in place for most of this week and the Council have advised to only visit if you cannot store your waste safely at home for a bit longer.
All five Recycling Centres will now be open 7 days a week from 10am to 6pm. The Council has put strict rules in force which are detailed below (also stated on the West Lothian Council website)
